Dear Minister Sharpe, Minister Moriarty, and Mr. Minns,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to extend a heartfelt invitation to each of you to join us for an illuminating experience amidst the natural wonders of Bulga State Forest, a mere four-hour drive north of Sydney.

In the wake of the devastating 2019-2020 Black Summer bushfires, the habitats of our precious wildlife, particularly the endangered Greater Glider and Koalas, have faced unparalleled challenges. As stewards of our environment and custodians of our agricultural and forestry sectors, I believe it is imperative for us to witness firsthand the impacts of these events on our native species.

Recent spot lighting conducted by dedicated Citizen Scientists has revealed the presence of dozens of endangered nocturnal animals within Bulga State Forest. Moreover, these surveys have uncovered a significantly higher number of den trees than previously identified through Forestry Corp’s daytime assessments. These findings underscore the critical importance of adopting comprehensive conservation strategies that are informed by accurate, up-to-date data.

Given the impending commencement of logging activities in what remains one of the last stronghold of the Greater Glider, we extend this invitation to you to visit Bulga State Forest at your earliest convenience. We are prepared to accommodate your schedule and preferences, offering options for either camping or billeted accommodation during your stay.

This invitation presents a unique opportunity for us to engage in constructive dialogue and collaborate on solutions that prioritize the preservation of our natural heritage. Whether you choose to join us before the commencement of logging or during its unfortunate progression, we are committed to facilitating an enriching experience that fosters a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our native wildlife.

We eagerly await the opportunity to welcome you to Bulga State Forest and to share with you the beauty and fragility of our natural environment. Your presence would not only honour us but also serve as a testament to your dedication to the well-being of our wildlife and ecosystems.

Please do not hesitate to contact us directly to discuss this invitation further or to arrange your visit. Thank you for considering this invitation, and we look forward to the possibility of hosting you in Bulga State Forest.

Warm regards,

Your constituents from Bulga
