AJ Lucas operates in three primary segments: Drilling, Engineering and Construction, and Oil and Gas.
Drilling Segment: This segment offers drilling services to the coal and coal seam gas industries for the degasification of coal mines and the recovery and commercialization of coal seam gas and related services. AJ Lucas’s drilling operations are located in the Illawarra, Hunter, and Narrabri regions of NSW, as well as the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland.
Engineering and Construction Segment: This segment focuses on the engineering and construction of civil infrastructure and commercial development projects, including desalination plants, power stations, gas and water pipelines, and office buildings. It also involves the trenchless installation of pipes and conduits using horizontal directional drilling and micro trenching.
Oil and Gas Segment: This segment is engaged in the exploration and commercialization of unconventional and conventional hydrocarbons.
AJ Lucas has operations primarily in Australia, the UK, and the United States, and is headquartered in Brisbane, Australia.
Lucas, along with its UK subsidiary Cuadrilla, owns interests in several gas licences at Bowland, Elswick (both in partnership with Spirit Energy), and Balcombe (in partnership with Angus Energy) in the UK.
In the UK, AJ Lucas owns 96% of Cuadrilla, an exploration company focused on discovering and recovering natural resources, primarily natural gas, from shale rock. All exploration and production in shale require the use of fracking technology. Cuadrilla was incorporated in the UK in 2007 and is headquartered in Bamber Bridge, Lancashire.

October 27, 2022 – “The last few months have highlighted the risks associated with ever increasing reliance on expensive, uncertain, and higher emission gas imports. Today’s WMS cements that reliance in the face of what is acknowledged to be a significant ongoing requirement for gas out to at least 2050.”

Today’s WMS sets the foundation for us to move towards gas self-sufficiency, and not be reliant on the whims of dictators, or the vagaries of international supply lines and prices.”
2013 result: AJ Lucas total revenue fell 41.5% to $295 million as weak commodity prices and client focus on cost reduction cut drastically into sales. Net loss dragged down another 15% to hit $127 million, while basic loss per share was $0.976

Similarly, it shows return on equity (ROE) of (137.14) % meaning that it generated substantial loss on money invested by shareholders.
