Within two days of the painting of “Ukrainian Tank Girl” by Paris-based mural artist Seth Globepainter, stickers appeared on the mural: “siostrezenstwo z ukraine” … translates from Polish to “sisterhood from Ukraine”

Up the hill in Butte Aux Cailles and around the corner, along a narrow street, we found the amazing chalk art of a young girl holding a Ukrainian flag by EMYarts
After studying at the renowned École Boulle college of fine arts and crafts, and applied arts in Paris, EMYart began her career as a jewellery designer, before following her true passion for street art. Usually working in large portraiture, EMYart pays attention to the nuance of the gaze, the emotion in a glance and the character of the facial expression. Women and felines are recurring subjects and she often works around the dream and colourful universes. EMYart uses oil pastels allows her to create a transparent effect, superimposing elements to create depth and richness to her street art.

Cafes, street art, flags and even the Mairie (local council) building has banners out in support of Ukraine.
Paris-based mural artist Seth Globepainter
Julien Malland paints murals under the name of Seth Globepainter. Born in Paris in 1972, Julien graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs of Paris in 2000.
Collaborating with Gauthier Bischoff they published “Kapital, one year of graffiti in Paris“ which became the best selling book about French graffiti. They founded “Wasted Talent”, a publishing house specialising in monographs of urban artists. His latest book “Extramuros“ chronicles his travels. Seth is the presenter, author and director of “Les nouveaux explorateurs“, a TV serial show produced by Canal+, each show focusing on a country and its local mural artists.

One year ago, 3 days after Russia attempted to invade Ukraine, I painted this little girl proudly waving her flag, crushing the attacker’s tanks.
Vandalized several times, it is now marching east to reclaim the occupied territories.
This week the Ukrainian post office and the charity foundation @modernukraine2021 will be selling a collector’s stamp that I will sign as part of Operation “For Kids UA”. All funds raised will go towards helping Ukrainian refugee children and living in the liberated areas.
